BAA to bmi miles... again...
Can anyone confirm the correct situation?
This is an email I just sent to BAA:
I have just requested that 3000 WorldCard points to be transfered to my bmi
Diamond Club account and would just like to confirm that your email below
still applies?
When I spoke with the telephone operator, she informed me that the double
points promotion was only for the WorldPoints card and not the WorldCard...
this is not true is it? I then asked how many bmi miles hould I get and she
said 50 bmi POINTs...
She also explained that the WorldCard and WorldPoint products were totally
different! This is very confusing...
Can you please confirm how many bmi miles I should get?
Original email from BAA:
Great news ? bmi have relaunched their diamond club frequent flyer
> programme and created a generous new awards structure based on their new
> mileage system! To celebrate the launch of bmi's new destinations miles we
> are running a DOUBLE MILES promotion, awarding 1,500 destinations miles
for
> every 500 WorldPoints exchanged before 31 May 2003. For more details visit

I transferred 500 BAA points two days before the new DC rules came into being.
As BAA say the transfer can take up to two weekd I had expected to get a reduced conversion rate and had my complaint pen at the ready. However my statement on the bmi website shows that I got 1500 miles.
So based on this they've converted them at 30 miles for each point.
So if you don't get 90,000 miles (3,000 x 30) complain to bmi.
BTW - the BAA website still refers to 50 Destination Points for each 500 BAA points.

OK, got a response from BAA now:
Firstly can I apologise for the lack of assistance you have received from
the call advisor you spoke to. I am not too sure what area of the business
this person was from i.e. Bank of Scotland, Carlson or bmi. I have spoken
to all three parties mentioned to ensure they re-train all the call
advisors and they are all up to speed and the current promotion.
We are running a promotion for both WorldCard and WorldPoints members for a
three month period. This promotion entitles our customers to double points
i.e.
1,500 bmi destinations miles for every 500 WorldPoints exchanged between
1st-31st May.
I hope this clarifies the redemption values and answers your question.
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any further queries.
Once again I would like to apologise for the confusion.

Spoke to Carlson this afternoon and they are aware that the promo is valid and for one month with a 1:3 (points:miles) conversion ratio although they have asked BAA for more info as no-one has officially told them.
Anyone know how I can get access to my World Points on line - I have a World Card (Visa) and understood this was only possible if I had a Worldpoints card.

You can access your World Points account on the BAA site, (after you have set up your profile and password etc.) IMO, it's not very clear, where, on the BAA site WorldPoints actually is...the easiest way is to do a search. Regarding the BAA World thingy credit card....I called them this morning to ask if I can transfer their/my points online ? Answer, no, they have to do it for you over our modern telephone system. Very heplful young lady, said she would arrange for them to be transfered, in my case to BM, 'straight away.' As an aside , I also asked the, as usual, very helpful BM Diamond helpdesk as to when I could expect to see my 200 points, (miles ?) show up in respect of my now, 2month + old BM credit card....'you're right Mike, they haven't been allocated to your account...I will chase it up today for you.''Thankyou,' says I.

Hi,
Just buy your standard class ticket with the BAA worldcard Visa BEFORE boarding the train and simply show the ticket and the credit card to the Ticket Inpsector when he/she comes round.
Regards
