Having already checked-in by phone, I've been turned back by BAA security at LHR even with a ticket in hand, because I did not have a boarding pass.
It seems that sometimes they seems to let you through without a BP, and sometimes they don't... BTW, the GBP3 CC fee doesn't apply if your ticket originates outside the UK. |
Ah, LHR "random security" - I've had that one. My colleague and I went up simultaneously to opposite sides of the UK departures security check desk, with tickets but no BPs. The lady on his side looked at his ticket and waved him through. The guy on my side said "No - go and check in out front." At this point I'm opening and closing my mouth silently while pointing helplessly at my colleague disappearing towards the X-ray machines... No amount of reasoning worked and I was sent back to the check-in desk. |
