I pray that they never allow people full use of mobile phones at 35,000 ft as this would IMHO be a nightmare.

I really doubt people will use mobile phones -- especially if it's going to cost them a fortune to do so.

I agree with House -- that's why I fly AC transatlantic too! :D

Internet/email etc doesn't bother me, people getting hold of me doesn't either, I CAN switch off my phone if I want :) .

I'm more concerned that the quiet(ish) ambience of an aircraft cabin is going to be ruined by some loud mouth yelling down the phone to someone during the flight. It's bad enough in certain lounges, usually with people from certain large countires whose 'volume' always seems a few decibels higher than is needed to talk to someone else either sat next to them or on the other end of a phone :D .

Oh dear, that really *is* drastic when the wine is so foul you have to turn it into a spritzer. Luckily the AirNZ Koru lounges tend to have a fairly impressive range of alcohol on offer - in the domestic lounge at Wellington I once counted 13 different types of beer (plus 4 or 5 different wines, bubbly etc) though it saddens me to report that in a recent bout of wild winter weather the Koru longe roof was torn right off by 180km/h winds and the interior flooded. So I may face the horrible prospect of no wine at all on my next visit!
