Trip Report: BRS-FRA Inaugural (02APR)

Flying BRS-FRA on the inaugural flight today (02APR). This is going to be the shortest and least photo-heavy trip report of all time.

Really nice welcome to the two check-in desks at BRS, with flowers, red-carpet, bucks fizz and pastries to welcome us. Servisair team in bmi uniforms, including a new bmi regional scarf.

Fast Track security today for all passengers - I'm not sure if that will be a constant benefit or not. (I'd love it to be, to keep away from the EZY sun-seekers).

Ian Woodley was greeting passengers at checkin; load is about 24, and a few pax very surprised to find it was the first flight.

RJXR is parked up on the apron facing the terminal (stand 2), which I doubt will be its regular location.

Boarding in 5 minutes, so more once I get back to the Internet in FRA. :D

Presume he is bmi-r's Willie/Wolfie equivalent ?

And continuation.

Boarding from Gate 4, walking straight out on to Stand 2, thus avoiding either a guided bus tour of the Eastern Apron, or the long long long arduous hike out along the Western stands walkway. (Distance - 1.2 light years).

21 + 1 pax on board, and a bit sandwiched around rows 8-16 (over the wings).

Just time for a quick thumb through the (slim, but very professionally produced) on board magazine whilst the paperwork came on board.

On-time departure off runway 09. I'd forgotten how much the pocket rockets cannon off up into the air. Fabulous view of Bristol as we departed East, but didn't have a camera other than in the phone.

Sandwiches came round. Either Chicken Tortilla Wrap, or Egg and Cress. I went Egg and Cress, because I'm an old traditionalist. I didn't ask if they had any Toasties on board.

Looks like bmi-r took on the surplus napkin and 'bag' stock from bmi.

Down into FRA 10 minutes early, and a unsurprisingly, ended up at the unofficial BRS stand, V100 (which is where the prior LH BRS-FRA service also got dumpe... parked).

Brilliant flight. Did exactly what you want a flight to FRA to do. Left on-time, arrived on-time, cost a sensible amount of money (hello LH...), friendly crew, nice sarnie and a coffee. Now, all it needs is a codeshare, and we're set. :D

He's the Chairman. The CEO is Cathal O'Connell.

This is, and probably always will be, my favourite part of flying. Always brings a smile to my face tearing down the runway on take-off in a 145.

The ex-EMA flights all get fast track security, it's the only way you can get through security and an on-time departure without fighting your way through the hoards of FR pax, so I suspect that the same will be true at BRS.

Just checked in for the return FRA-BRS trip (after a very successful trip), and look who's handling BMI at FRA...

I tried using my LH SEN card to get into the lounge, but got refused at the door. Bit cheeky, but I figured LH probably owe me one.

Back to gate B30, bus to stand V100 no doubt, and then back to BRS.

Gods sake I wish BM would hurry up and launch an FFP, even a token one and match our SEN's, BD Gold, BA Gold, FB Plat's or Hertz Gold :D...

Ugh, I wonder how much they can save at FRA just by switching from T1 to T2 and from LH to Acciona or these other cheapos..

Or perhaps in the grand scheme of things there is a reason for things as they are ?

Ground Handling was, indeed, by the poorly shaved and slightly shabby looking Acciona crew. Looks like LH were just issuing the paperwork.

I never seen the British Midland International napkins on any BD flights I'd flown on. One of the last BD flights I'd flown on with the MAN-LHR route still had the old style of the logo (no circle and no British Midland International, just bmi) future flights operated by bmi but under BA codes used plain napkins.

I can't remember the napkins but on BD operated LH flights between MAN and FRA in October 2012 this is what they had.
