Yesterday was the final day for the few remaining bmi staff at Donington Hall. here's a rather poignant video posted by Mick Shipton at bmi:

Crikey, they almost needed the Last Post playing with that. Brought a tear to my eye.

Goodbye to the Hall and all who sailed in her. It will be very interesting to see what happens to it now. I would hate to see it unloved and fall into disrepair.

In the Leicester Mercury today, it's reported that BA/IAG are in discussions with an interested party for the sale of the Hall. It's a bit of a non-story as there's nothing concrete as yet.

It'll be interesting to see who snaps it up.

You have to smile when you realise that it takes a story all of 10 days to travel from it's appearance in The Sunday Times to the Leicester Mercury's reheater.

I know the front looks like brick and mortar, but I'm sure they was some concrete in the rear car park? Still, if that's what readers of Leicester Mercury get excited about..

The IT block was a concrete monstrosity, I can see that being demolished at some point

I thought the IT went in the basement/wine cellar of the hall as it was naturally cold down there?
