Refunds to different credit card

Due to the BA 25% off Avios sale I am likely to cancel two BMI reward bookings. I am pretty sure that one of my cards I used to make the booking has been cancelled (Lloyds Avios card had no use after the promotional period).

Is there an official policy that BMI should follow in this situation. I have read a few threads where people have had issues with this situation....

Has your card been cancelled or your account too?

Normally the funds will still be sent back to the payment card. The card issuer should then remit the funds to you (by cheque or other means)

As per IATA rule, tickets can only be refunded to the same credit card which made the booking. There are some countries which allow a refund to a different FOP, but UK is not on this list.

Are you sure? I cancelled an MBNA Lufty card a couple of years ago, but the account still shows online, just marked dormant.

Don't worry if you're refunding a bmi 236 stock ticket. According to ba.com/bmirefund:

Your refund will be calculated in accordance with the fare rules of your ticket. A bank transfer or cheque (not necessarily your original form of payment) will be processed in due course. This may take up to 8 weeks.
They'll refund direct to your bank. It's probably easier this way for BA as bmi is not accepting new bookings. Although bmi still technically exists, Diamond Club is still operated by bmi (as it says on the copyright of diamondclub.org)
