Cancel award because of Sandy?

Will DC waive the usual cancellation deadline for my award ticket to Newark on 1 November and allow me to cancel a few hours before the flight? It's only then that I will know whether or not the New York Marathon, which I am was going to run on Sunday, will go ahead.

As long as you cancel before departure time, you should be OK. AFAIK, there is no 24 hr before departure requirement with dc, unlike BAEC.

Thank you, NickB. I tried to check the diamondclub.org website for cancellation deadlines but it's been down since yesterday night ...

Bit of a bugger when they indicate it's going to go ahead and then announce the cancellation on the evening 2 Nov.

Yep. I can see the arguments both for and against cancelling, but getting most people there before cancelling seems the worst call given the drain on resources like fuel .

Yes, I did take the flight as the official information was that the Marathon will go head regardless and it was only after I'd arrived that it was cancelled. Grrrrrr! I still had a good time though doing 4 1/2 laps through Central Park with thousads of others ......
