BA Starts Ex-bmi Midhaul

Today marks the start of ex-bmi Midhaul for British Airways.

BA8176 to AMM will be operated on G-MEDN with a BA crew & under BA AOC, the a/c is already in BA livery also. Be interesting to see how the Club World service on the A321 goes & how it compares to bmi.

Are you on it?

Hope it all goes smoothly. The only other thing needed is the new cabin!

Another quick question - has the IFE been updated? As it seems to be completely BA, it would be a bit weird to have the screens start up as 'bmi voyager'

It will remain BMI voyager untill all the aircraft have been refitted with the flat bed seats and then a programme will be run to alter them all to BA branding.

So yes it will be a bit strange at first because the entertainment magazine will be the Voyager one too.

They could probably earn some dosh by marketing these services as a dual-brand retro experience while the upgrade awaits: They could borrow some Paul Costelloe hats from Madame Tusasuds and dust off the 'World's Favourite Airline' flower duet variations cassettes. ...And perhaps while they're dusting things off, they could get Bob Ayling to paint the aircraft then ask Lady Thatcher to offer her comments on the livery, from Blackpool. And they could rebrand Y as 'Diamond Service'. :-)

So we'll have Highlife, Business Life, Highlife Shop and Voyager onboard? Seems like a lot of magazines!

Isn't this edition the last edition of Voyager? Keep the same ones flying around or a 'mini-mag' with only the entertainment section?

Sorry, I don't know but I do know that it will have the BMI logo and the BMI voyager guide on inflight entertainment, just until all are refitted with the flat bed seats.

Hope they don't forget the little bmi aircraft on the new moving map too

Can't wait to get on one of these reborn 321s.

Well bmi's IFE guide is no longer inside the Voyager magazine, it's on a double folded menu type guide that isn't branded, so BA will be using aswell. Duty Free isn't available on midhaul flights so unless they have Highlife Shop magazines onboard just for online sales doesn't really seem any point.

Too right! Love that feature! We need to keep something to remind us of bmi

The magazine I was shown had pictures of the different types of handsets within it's pages. It had BMI voyager on the front but I don't actually know which magazine it was.

There is going to be NO tax free on these aircraft, because they can't fit it in with the BA Club World and World Traveller service on board apparently. So it was not a duty free mag.

Well it's not going well punctuality wise!

Yesterday's flight to AMM was nearly 3 hours late & today's is over 2 hours late. Not sure why!
