Reporting successful Star Alliance Status Matches?

I'm looking for a status match from DC Gold within *A. I imagine it's quite likely that as part of the deal with IAG/BA, LH might not be able to offer any status match to DC members now.

Would it be premature to open a thread here, so that DC members can share information about possible status matches within *A for DC members if any arise, or any success in achieving a status match with another *A member?

If mods think this premature or inappropriate, please delete.

I'd say it was premature, since I expect some sort of well publicised match campaign organised centrally by Star.

Ya think? They've had plenty of time to think about it, and there's not even a whisper yet... Does anyone know what happened after Shanghai and Spanair exited? Or if they stepped in when Mexicana, Varig or Ansett went bust?

In the Varig case there were couple of *A status match opportunities.

I don't expect anything until we get closer to the date.

This is clearly a wait and see thing. The most you can do at this time, assuming there'll be a match that is, is look at all the programs again and see what suits you best; your criteria being somewhat different in that some programs rules make it easier to keep your matched *G that earn it from scratch in the first place.

Yes, with Spanair there was a centrally coordinated match where you could pick from 1 of, I think, 10 programmes to match you.

Not Star Alliance but might still come in handy for some:

Free Etihad Guest frequent flyer Gold tier status match

Tried my luck with LH M&M to see if they would match my Gold status (three times over this year) - not a chance...
This just means that I will be taking my business elsewhere (or stick with BA)...

I have just received a reply from BA to say that they will not status match me and I'll be placed on lowest tier until I earn 300 tier points- Unbelievable.

Great find! I wonder if they give you the full 2 years benefit of being Gold. Worth a shot!

does BD still allow status matching TO them from A3 gold? that would be a quick way to get some oneworld status!

nothing ventured nothing gained but I would be very surprised if DC was still allowed under IAG ownership to match left, right and centre the way they used to do. I would expect similar policies to those of BA now applying, viz. no routine matching.

Well, they've already been very generous in matching BMI status to their own which is very hard to maintain as it is. So if you didn't have status with DC to begin with, why should BA match you?
