This is the best bit:

"The woman was drunk, and started troubling other patients" :D:D

So, any FT'ers on board?

Holy Cow!!! What is it with these drunk Ruskies? She should be jailed and fined, at least having to pay the airline for the fuel and other costs in connection with returning to the airport.

G-MEDG, just in case anyone wants to avoid the sticky seats. :D

On the plus side, it would had made good IFE...

Having spoken to one of the crew, the article somewhat under plays what happened. Crew and passengers were physically assaulted and the woman in question was eventually restrained in a seat with the full restraint kit and hand cuffs used. Not a pleasant situation.

Ouch. Not good at all. :(

Unpleasant doesn't cover it when the restraint kit has to come out...

By the sounds of it, she probably quite liked that.....

Especially when the whip comes out, hey Kev?

The article really does say "patients", raising the question of what medical conditions are typically treated with air travel (and whether prescription flights earn miles).

I know it sounds like a bit of a laugh, but when the captain instructs the restraint kit to be used, it means the passenger poses an immediate threat to the aircraft, crew and other passengers.

Probably the best press BD has had in years! :D

Best to ask Oman Air for details :D

But seriously, on a 8.40am flight? If she was tanked why was she allowed to board? Must have been quite a spectacle.

Why didn't they just fly on to LHR and deal with the deplaning there?

After the crew were assaulted they were left metally/physically unfit to operate the flight back to London. New crew were positioned out on the BD891 LHR-DME this morning to operate as back-up crew, hence why the BD896 experienced such a long delay.
