Is the following taxes/YQ fair?

Sorry to dig up this old thread, but I am just feeling uncomfortable with the amount of taxes and YQ being charged for the following booking (made during the dying days of Diamond Club for *A redemption).

Just looking at that booking you have 2 of the biggest culprits for high YQ right there. Go to matrix.itasoftware.com plug in the journey and dates and see what it comes back with.

Isn't the £154.50 DU the cash portion of the Miles & Cash booking?

198.60 YQ sounds not entirely surprising for SQ+NH. Note that SIN-TPE attracts a much higher YQ than SIN-HKG. You have 4 segments which makes things a lot worse as well.

Well, those of us who've transferred our miles over to BA EC are rapidly discovering that the YQ grass certainly isn't any greener over there.....

Taking a simple LHR-JFK return for example, in C, YQ is £319, and total fees/taxes are £520.

West coast US is even worse for YQ on BA, just paid 4x £359 in J for next Easter to SFO they should be renamed Dick Turpin airways

If we're playing top trumps, I'd suggest my £2850 bill for 5 award seats (admittedly in F) to YVR will take some beating on several counts....

The uniform should include Tri-corner hats

Agreed, unless using a 2-4-1 voucher I find it much more cost effective to use Avios for upgrade from WTP, especially if you can time it for a sale fare!

If British Airways had a sense of humour, they'd offer Dick Turpin costumes for sale in the duty free magazine

I have tried the software since June, but there is no flight available on ANA between TSA-HND. Even tried to book a one-way on the ANA web, but it seemed they only sell return trip for TSA-HND.

Got the following from ITA matrix:

SIN-TPE
Singapore Passenger Service Charge (SG) £10.20
Singapore Aviation Levy (OP) £3.10
Singapore Passenger Security Service Charge (OO) £4.10
(YQ) £83.90
(YQ) £3.20

HND-HKG
Japan International Passenger Facility Charge (SW) £15.50
(YQ) £43.00

HKG-SIN
Hong Kong Departure Tax (HK) £9.80
(YQ) £19.90

So the total above are YQ: £150.00 and Tax: £42.70. Hence, I supposed the YQ I was charged for TSA-HND is £48.60?

On the ANA web, YQ of TWD2,960 (£64) was charged for a return TSA-HND-TSA biz class ticket. So I guessed I am being overcharged about £15 here?

Well, I guess it gonna be pointless to contest it?

Yeah, you are right! I am unlucky to have 2 of the biggest YQ culprit
But I feel the YQ was much more excessive on NH. Had expected YQ on this itin not to be that high as it involved HKG. NH are charging YQ of £43.00 for HND-HKG while YQ on HKG-SIN is only £19.9?

Yeah, that's the cash portion. £150 + £4.50 credit card fee.

Yeah, that's the cash portion. £150 + £4.50 credit card fee.

Actually you got it lower with your booking...

A revenue booking's taxes today comes out more as ...

XT 195.30YQ 10.20SG 4.10OO 3.10OP
6.50TW 15.40SW 9.70HK
Total taxes: GBP 244.30
Note that the airlines do not dictate their YQs but rather what the government of the country they are flying to/from will allow.
