Missed the flight to CAI

I know it's wrong to dwell on the misfortunes of others, but from Facebook today...

bmi

The social media team finally made it to Cairo! Missed our 10:05 LHR-CAI flight this morning by minutes thanks to the M25, thankfully our friends at Egypt Air saved the day You can follow our journey here, on FourSquare (flybmi) and Twiiter (@flybmi). PS Vettel, Button & Co have nothing on the drivers here!
I do wonder what would have happened if someone other than the BD Social Medjiah Team had missed their flight to CAI by minutes? Would MS have been so helpful?

And I assume the reference to Formula One drivers was in relation to drivers in CAI, not drivers on the M25, because either could be true.

missed by minutes
Unlikely.

If it had been minutes surely they could have held the flight. Apparently they do it with BEY flights all the time

They probably meant they got to the airport minutes after the flight actually took off

It is really uncanny. This tweet by bmi social meeja this morning:

I'm at Tahrir Square (Al Tahrir, Meret Basha, Cairo)
And prompty followed by this news headline on the Guardian website:

Battle breaks out in Tahrir Square, once again

Now come on, how do you know its not our fellow DC Gold members pelting the team with all our stockpiled GUV's and those really useful Europcar vouchers

I'm half expecting some sort of UN intervention to stop bmi and/or it's employees from leaving the UK at this rate.

Or ever, ever starting a new route anywhere. Do we think ATH was ever on the shortlist.

I concluded that Cairo taxi drivers were like bats due to their use of an echolocation-type system; they constantly sound the car horn and seem to use the replies from all the other vehicles to adjudge which tiny space they can manically thrust their car into.

Truly impressive and truly scary.
