I know where the problem is - you all have status
I 'landed' to Blue from Silver a month ago, and this came in the post today:
Very clear and obvious what airline it is!
On a side note, there was no "buy up to Silver offer" in my Blue pack [not that I would need it anyway].

I lost my Gold card (somewhere in Milan? maybe?) and called up to request a new one. The shiny new replacement card I received today has the new design
Key features:
Much, much bigger Star Alliance GOLD logo/wording in the top left hand corner
British Midland International wording and bmi oneworld globe in the top right corner

Am I in the minority here by preferring the existing (gold) card???
I have no problem with the larger *G symbol but the BMI logo is not in keeping with the darker style of the card (someone will now seek to educate me on colour contrasts etc but i shall remain unmoved!)

The card is there for two purposes - functional, and then brand value effect. Without the airline name on it, and illegible *G symbol it was not fit for the functional purpose.
If this will end the challenges (experienced a few times - by me and others - including with LH group airlines!) when using the card, then it is a huge improvement!
Yes I know it should have positive brand bits *as well*, but if it is not up to the functional jobs, asthetics simply don't make up for that.
