From here?

Actually, if you have Accor £20 voucher, you can reduce that even further...

Avoiding 'The Wedding' and seeing Kylie at the Hard Rock Orlando. I could be an arse and remain cryptic like some and not mention the month of travel but I won't

Apr 2011

DUB-EWR (CO J)
3 night stopover
EWR-MCO (CO Y - looking to change to C if availability crops up).
Making our own way to DUB for around £85 each incl. bags etc with Ryanair

X2 pax
18750 miles x2
£105 cash x 2
£94.60 taxes x2 ^ (Bang on with IATA)
£4.50 CC charge x2.

May 2011
IAD-FRA (UA J)
FRA-MAN (LH J)
Hoping for seats to open up MCO-IAD but if not they are £51 each so not really a major issue. I'm just pleased to get a flat bed across the atlantic.

X2 pax
18750 miles x2
£105 cash x 2
£170 taxes x2 (higher than IATA)
£4.50 CC charge x2.

Mr Womble had an entertaining afternoon on the phone yesterday booking
LHR - BKK - CGK - BKK - LHR , all in business class except the final BKK-LHR leg is in First class. All on Thai airways (TG). to fly in May.
He is a gold card holder and called the gold number and seemed to speak to someone very helpful and relatively well informed (didnt get their name though).
cost 160,000 miles + £360 in taxes etc..
not ticketed yet though.

Which suggests they have priced it as a one-way in business (60,000) plus a one-way in First (100,000), rather than applying a "return trip in which the highest cabin class is First", which would have been 200,000.

Successful SAA redemption

Hi first post, so be gentle! I've been a lurker for a while, but thought I'd post.

I've actually had a couple of successful redemptions.

1. 50 000 miles + £268 tax SAA- CPT LHR LHR CPT 20 Apr 7 May
Also got one last year for myself again SAA CPT JHB JHB LHR one way 9 Jan Business 18700 + £170 tax + £170 co-payment. Given that there was a R1000 difference between Economy and Business, seemed like a bit of no brainer. Anyway hope that helps.

Just thought I'd let you know that a few people have actually had success

2 pax: BHX-FRA-EZE-SCL in C with LH and AC (EZE-SCL): 18750 miles pp + £536.10 (taxes +part cash + credit card fee)

1 pax: SCL-EZE-FRA-BHX in C with AC and LH: 18750 miles pp + £295.90 (taxes, part cash and CC fee)

1 pax: SCL-EZE (Stopover)-FRA-BHX in C with AC and LH: 18750 miles + £297.50

Were thinking of starting the journey in FRA and coming back to BHX to avoid the UK's APD however decided against it as flying in December - some weather disruption or having to stay overnight in FRA...

Great Stuff! I will be doing my first redemption on SAA this weekend, LHR to JHB in December 2011, return CPT via JHB to LHR in Jan 2012. Will redeem as single trips as Jan 2012 flights not yet available. Going to book flights on the new A330-200 of SAA!^

UK C Class APD to Argentina/Chile is an eye watering £170 per person, that would pay for a very nice hotel in FRA! Or how about DUB? Plenty of EI services from BHX for not much money.

hi BHDBOY,

Thanks for that: all considered - going to Chile for a long-ish break, so travelling to DUB/FRA on cheap economy tickets causes all sorts of problems with what would then become our excess luggage: i.e. 4 (or 5 with a *G extra bag) pieces of luggage in between my partner and I would have to be reduced to 2 pieces on IE (do they charge for bags?) or 3 (one extra *G bag) on LH to FRA...
