The free night voucher will expire 70 days after fulfillment. Expiration date will be stated on the free night voucher. What a (possibly) sneaky promo!

Look at the dates when you'll be able to redeem the free night, and compare it against the last 2 years' winter promos.

The last two years, award stays in December and January were reduced to 10000 points for all hotels.

Well, look at when the redemption period for this "free night" will be (unless you do both nights fairly soon)? December and January.

So if that's how the redemption works out, and if they repeat that promo, this "free night" will only be worth 10000 points, unless you happen to use in the week or so that's beyond December and January (those two months being about 62 days, but the redemption period is 70 days, so about one week out side that 10000 point period probably.

Although this past year if im not mistaken the 10k a night excluded holidays and weekends(?). The voucher does not have those restrictions which can still be worth it if its a full points night.

I await someone doing a write up of the best hotels to use the free night. I see some in New York and California go for $350+ per night. I'd probably look to use mine at the BW Arroyo Roble in Sedona. Are there capacity restrictions, can the certificate only be used on nights where the hotel is available for points booking?

I can't see myself moving any of my stays to accommodate this promo. It's a real pity - I do like the BW properties as a whole, but my paid stays are usually in NA while redemptions are elsewhere. I could even tolerate the miserable 70 time frame... if redeemable globally.

This promotion is not perfect, but it can still be a great free night depending on where one is going since there is no restriction on where it can be redeemed. I primarily stay in basic best western properties that range anywhere from $31-$70 a night using my corporate code. For this promotion, my second stay will fall on Oct 2, so my voucher will expire some time around the middle of December. This is too bad because I am going to Miami in January and would have liked to use the voucher then. Last time this promotion ran, I used the voucher for a room at the Best Western Plus in Boulder, CO that was being sold for $229 or 30,000 points on the night I stayed. I would say that was a great redemption.

In las vegas, the Casino Royale property has relatively high rates and no resort fee, so that might be a good option.

Anywhere expensive such as San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, New York would be good a value redemption. They may not be the best looking hotels but if they are convenient in a relatively expensive area then i wouldnt hesitate. I have always wanted to visit the Elm house in Napa valley. They have such good reviews on hospitality as well as their breakfast.

I'm confused about this mention of a 10000 Point room restriction? The terms and conditions seem to indicate that it's any (basic) room in the system?

I'm not sure what 10000 points "restriction" you're referring to. The 10000 point amount being discussed here is that in the past two years, Best Western ran a promo where all stays (at least most days) during December and January only needed 10000 points. So if that repeats this year, on most of the nights when you could use the free night certificate it might only be saving you 10000 points.

If the room is available on points, it's available for a free night certificate. If it's not available on points, it's not available for a free night certificate. So a free night certificate simply saves you the number of points you would need to get that hotel that night with points.

Yes, exactly that. No more, no less. It's simply a way to save some points, by not having to use points for a points stay.

Last time this promotion ran, I used the certificate for a room at a Best Western in Boulder, CO that was selling for $229 or 30,000 points. I had no problem using the certificate. I just bought plane tickets for 3 weekdays in Orlando during December and 3 weekdays in Miami in January. I am very much hoping that BW runs the 10K points promotion this year.

I completed my second stay four days ago and got the email with free night voucher today. Actually, I got the same email sent four times. I was hoping they might have screwed up and sent me multiple free night certificates, but it appears they didn't. One certificate, sent to me four times, good for the next 68 days (until December 10).

I completed my second stay about a week ago, and I received my free night voucher in my email this morning. I am considering using the voucher for a stay at the Florida Hotel & Conference Center, BW Premier Collection in Orlando. The normal Point Redemption is 36,000, and the cash rate is 150 +. So this is a decent Redemption based on my travel plans in the next couple months. The only thing I am wondering is if I will still have to pay the resort fee, which is over twenty bucks. If I still have to pay the resort fee, I might change my mind and look elsewhere.

I had an odd experience redeeming my free night voucher. I called to redeem it, gave the phone agent the voucher number from my email, she made the booking with no problem.

When I arrived at the property in Sedona, the front desk lady asked me for a copy of the voucher, which I showed her on the phone. Then she kept asking to see my phone, to copy down the voucher, which I assumed the hotel would have in the booking. I think the computer kicked the reservation back to her as invalid at first, she started reading me rules that the guest should be charged cash if the voucher is invalid or if the guests lacks sufficient points. Why would BW book points reservations if the voucher number is invalid and without locking up the points.

She asked me when the voucher was issued. She read something on her screen about it being an Australian promotion for Australian hotels only. More looking at my phone to get the 4 digit security code that goes with the voucher number. She had discussions with her co-worker about how the computer wouldn't accept the voucher, followed by her telling me "OK, I'll check you in and we'll let you know if there's a problem with it."

Anyway, I recommend bringing a printout of the voucher email without you when you check in.
