Cancel reward stay, how long before points are back in the account?

Cancel reward stay, how long before points are back in the account?

Hello,

I figured the amount of rewards points for an upcoming stay dropped from 70K to just 44K/night. Needless to stay I would like to cancel and re-book. Will the points be back asap in my account after cancelation?

From my experience when you book reward stays it does not automatically withdraw the points from the account; the property does it the day of check in. I'm not sure how the dynamic redemption works if when you booked it was higher but now lower. And I don't know if you got the right program. I think best western caps at 36k/night. Might be thinking of Hilton or Marriott
