Previous stays credited to BW Rewards account?
 
I'm entering my fifth consecutive week at a Best Western. The front desk signed me up to BW Rewards last week. They got my email address wrong so I had some difficulties getting that fixed. Anyway, I've got last weeks stay credited to my BW Rewards account. However, is it possible to get the previous three weeks of stays credited?

How did you book those stays? At bestwestern.com, through a corporate booking engine, or elsewhere? I'm not sure if stays booked elsewhere count, even after you've joined:

Have you tried calling them and asking? I think you'd have to do it over the phone if it's possible anyway, so you might as well call them and ask if it's possible. (It's not a situation that comes up that often.)

All of my stays have been booked through a corporate travel agent. Last week's was credited. The hotel did that, but the hotel is reluctant to credit previous weeks.

Yes, but I meant to call Best Western Rewards customer service (800-444-7646 according to my BW card, assuming you're based in the USA), not the hotel itself.

I don't know if you'll have any better luck there, but since it's Best Western Rewards that actually issues the points, it can't hurt to try. Even if they can't credit previous stays, perhaps they'll give you some points in compensation for not being able to do it? You won't know without asking them.

You're in a rare situation. In my experience (reading many hotel forums on FlyerTalk for way over a decade) most people either decide they want to join a hotel program on their first stay, or decide they don't want to join at all, or decide so much later that it's clearly impossible. That's presumably why no one else who has joined only after several weeks of stays has shown up in this thread.

All finally sorted for me. BW Customer Services have actually been great! They've upgraded my account to Diamond Select (via a status match) and corrected the format of my name (i.e. <Title> <First_Name> <Last_Name>) and fixed my email address after the hotel messed this up!

Finally, the hotel credited me the points for my previous three weeks of stays.

I have a few more weeks of stays booked so may end up with enough points for a weekend stay somewhere in the world.

You can retro claim points as far back as 6 months, if you have stayed at hotels for 3 weeks, those points will be enough for a few free nights. I treat miles and points like cash. Also you don't need to get involved with people on the phone if you have the confirmation number, just go in here

To get even more points, if you're US resident you can get BW credit card with no AF and net up to another 32000 points.
