Diamond Experience: BW Plus Calgary Suites Downtown
 

Just had to weigh in on my recent stay. Spent 2 nights at this property for business.

I normally do not stay at BW properties but my business partner really liked this hotel so requested if we could stay there.

Visit was perfection. I signed us up for Diamaond status because we own our own businesses. Arrived at property and got upgraded to the best rooms. The location was perfect for us - right downtown and walking distance to everywhere we needed to go. With the free breakfast and parking, business centre with printer (that works) and sauna. This hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. I may now be converted.

My only concern is where will I use the points I earn from BW stays - was looking at the properties and did not find anything that immediately made me say - I would like to go there.

That's not what BW is for, IMHO. They often have hotels in locations (including right outside some National Parks in the USA, not sure about Canada) where no other chain hotels exist. Same with some nice vacation locations in Alaska (they are the only chain hotel in Seward now that the Holiday Inn Express was de-branded) and in many smaller towns in Europe. (For example, they are one of the only 3 hotel chains you'd know from North America that can be found in Norway beyond Oslo, the other two being Club Carlson and Choice, in the latter case redemption only because it's a different Choice program in the Nordic countries than in North America and the rest of Europe.)

Interesting Thanks for that comment. I had not though about it that way. So, BW points are for getting nights for free in places where otherwise getting free nights would not be possible? I actually just thought of such a situation that is coming up i November - so I am going to check and see if there is a BW there. Thanks for the change of perspective.
