Point devaluation for beach properties?

Last year we booked a three night trip to the Virginia Beach oceanfront sandcastle hotel for 20k points per night. Unfortunately my 5 year old broke his wrist the week prior to the reservation so we had to cancel. BW customer service was great about giving us back the points without issue.

Went to rebook the hotel for this year and it is now 36K per night. I thought no problem where is another BW oceanfront property in Virginia beach; that one also increased from 20k to 36k per night. Figured I would check our more local BW dewey beach property; it increased from 24k to 36k per night for an August trip.

It seems like the properties used to have the same point per night cost all year long, and now they are on a sliding scale with mid summer nights costing quite a bit more. I guess I get spoiled with all the notices on blogs and on flyertalk about point devaluations for the major chains and did not keep a close enough eye on BW.

Sadly, looks like it's true, the Seaside OR oceanfront hotel was previously 28k, now 36k.
