BW Announces 2 new brands.

Vib (vibe) and BW Premier Collection.

Will be interesting how this will play out in the crowded market and whether it will make people stay at BW more.

No, BW Premier already has existed for a few years now. What's they're launching is (confusingly called) BW Premier Collection.

(Choice has something like that in some places too: Clarion vs Clarion Collection.)

And it says it's not going to be part of Best Western, but it will be bookable on the Best Western site and it will qualify for earning and redeeming Best Western points?

You are correct, I left out the Collection part of the title.... but hey, it got someone to chime in :)

As if the name confusion wasn't enough, the part about not participating, but otherwise being jsut like any other hotel participation is silly.

Good, more ways for consumers to get confused

Oh, and if history is any judge, they'll now run some promo where you get gigantic oodles of points but only if you're one the first 3 people in the world to stay both of the new brands. Which of course will only practical to people already with travels planned to those few areas which have those new brands.

Did anybody stay in these brands, how was your stay?

Curious if anybody stayed in a Vib, BW Premier collection or Glo hotel. I've never found one so I'm curious how they are and compare to other similar brands.

Theres a BW premier collection in San Francisco. Looks not so premier but it is centrally located next to Union Square, i would chose this over the Americania but not over the Tuscan Inn

Vin and Glo are new, I haven't found an open one yet. Glo is new construction, should be nice...

GLO hotels in Finland

Today, just by accident stumbled upon the website of the "Global Hotel Alliance" and discovered that they also have a brand called "Glo" that operates 4 hotels in the wider Helsinki area (Finland).

The Global Hotel Alliance is a group of 34 independent luxury brands, 500+ hotels, (co-)founded by Kempinski Hotels.

Despite the fact that (the Finnish) GLO does not have any hotels in US I still find it strange that BW choose exactly this name to roll out their new brand. BW does operate internationally so I think they make come into trouble by this...

I don't know that it's "exactly" this name. Best Western's brand is not GLO, it's GLō.

Yes, it's very similar, but as a long as they don't operate in the same area (I don't know if area for GLO would be just Finland or actually the European Union to which Finland belongs), I'm not sure if there would be a problem. There's plenty of precedent of unrelated companies using the same or extremely similar name in different parts of the world with no legal problem. (Customer confusion problems may be another story.)
