Avis booking through 3rd party websites and Avis points
Hello
A simple question but one I've not been able to find the answer to on the Avis website.
I'm hiring a car through a 3rd party site - it had the benefit of a free named extra driver. There wasn't an option of adding an Avis membership number, if I sign up to Avis' reward scheme and give them the details when collecting can I collect points (which I'd then want to convert to airmiles) or is the situation like hotels where you must book through the company's website to qualify for points?
Many thanks
Mike

The answer is that it depends. If you have to prepay for the rental at time you make the reservation (called net rate rentals), then most likely the answer is that you will not be able to apply Avis Preferred benefits and earn points. You can always ask at the rental counter, but most likely it will not be possible. If however, you are paying at the rental counter, then it should be no problem to add your Avis member number when you arrive.
