Alert: You have to be logged in at avis.com to be able to specify an Frequent Traveler program. That field (which is now on the Rental Options page) disappears if you try to book without being logged in. (And, obviously, to be able earn an airline or hotel bonus, you have to be able to specify your airline or hotel program!)

Let's use the following format when editing the Wiki:

I found that the IHG and Starwood bonuses (that had expired earlier this year) have been revived, and updated the wiki accordingly. (Though there's very little time left for the IHG bonus.)

Has anyone used the 500 miles bonus AA coupon code for 3+ days on a booking? I have a feeling it is tied to the specific AWD found in the included link. A bit bummed as that rate is much higher than my standard AWD.

I'm confused. You're the one who pointed out (a few posts above) that the promos that were tied to a specific AWD have expired. The newest promos (except for Paylass) are back to using coupon codes, such as:
American: 500 bonus miles, 3+ days, 4/30/2017: MUAA010
At Avis, any codes that start with 4 letters are coupon codes. AWDs only have one letter at the beginning.

And the link to the promo T&Cs says you must use the coupon, and states the separate AWD is just for savings.

(It's only at Payless that it's still using an AWD, since it's only got one letter at the beginning. But you didn't say you were trying to use Payless.)

Anyway, I haven't been using Avis much lately because United keeps re-re-re-extending their 2000 miles (plus a bit extra for elite members) on Hertz mid-size or higher rentals booked through the United website, for 1+ days. That so trumps the number of miles that AA gives through Avis lately for the same-length rentals. And I find Hertz mid-size prices often similar to Avis compact prices.

I agree on what I said based on what I read in the ABG T&Cs (as you have also read). On Avis/Budget promo coupons, they have almost always mentioned a related AWD to use (for savings). In practice, you could use any AWD with that coupon. However, it appears even though Avis went back to coupon, it still tied the related AWD to the AA bonus miles coupon (which really is not a change despite what I said).

Basically, I can't get the AA coupon to work unless I use the AA savings AWD specified. I just am curious if anyone is going after AA miles anymore. If I was to email Avis, I know they would say, "Well, we told you what AWD to use in our promotion." I think they programmed this promo too tight especially when it is a 3+ promo not a 1+ promo, and the competition is still dumping miles to get more rentals (to your point). Hertz likes doing the quiet promos, and I am not sure why Avis feels that they need to be more strict.

It also appears Hertz has bought the preferred co-branding with Southwest for 2017 away from Budget as well.

I'm curious, did you try another AA AWD, such as the K817182 mentioned in the "normal" AA earnings link in the wiki?

Also, do you have any AWD saved in your profile? In my case, no matter what AWD I enter when making the reservation, half the time it switches me to my default (which is a BA AWD I entered a decade ago). I wonder if that would invalidate a coupon that was valid until that point in the reservation process?

So there are a few rate codes (translated from AWDs) that are considered perhaps too low for the coupon, but most AWDs should work okay with the coupon. I just happened to trigger a very low rate code for a particular rental, but other rentals are allowing the extra 500 miles even with a non-AA AWD like before.

So, the coupon code should work independently like before for most.

Aeroplan promotion for Avis: 4500 miles

I'm not sure where to post it, here or in Aeroplan thread... There is a promotion currently for Aeroplan Elite members: for 3 day or more rental from Avis you get 4500 Aeroplan miles. I took advantage of it, in fact, I have 3 rentals to day plus 3 more coming. On the three completed it says on the receipt "Travel partner miles earned: 4500". And yesterday the Aeroplan miles were finally posted for the first two rentals (1/16 and 1/23) - but only 1500 for each of them (500 based plus 1000 bonus). I tried contacting Avis, but they don't answer, and Aeroplan directs to Avis.
Anyone else took advantage of the same offer? Did you receive the miles?

Thanks!

You tried contacting Avis on the weekend? (I'm guessing since you posted the above on a Sunday.) Try again, the people who need to look into an issue like this would likely only be there during work hours M-F.

I'd be interested in knowing whether you used the AWD code specified in the T&C or just the Coupon Code?

ETA - never mind, I tried a dummy booking without the AWD code and the Coupon Code was rejected with the following "This coupon can only be used with a specific AWD number."

Yeah, I did use the AWD specified in the T&C.
What bothers me, is that on the receipt it says 4500 points - which IMO means that Avis system accepted all my codes as the right combination for the promotion. But then for some reason it was not transferred correctly over to Aeroplan system.
I am still waiting for an answer from both, they promised to get back to me.

As I anticipated earlier, Avis and AA got antsy and already boosted their 3+ to 1000 miles bonus until 3/31/17. I added the new coupon codes to the wiki. Because miles are so expensive from flying, these miles tend to be much better deals for earning.

Avis and Southwest decided to formalize until early 2018 already, but because ABG no longer has the preferred Southwest placement -- I don't expect any big point bonus deals.

Interesting reminder that Delta and United do not have an Avis contract.

I just had a rental post from last weekend where it showed 4500 on the booking and receipt, but only 1500 posted (1000 + 500). My previous rental on Jan 20 posted correct except the additional 500 status miles haven't posted yet.
