The Avis presidents club is NOT something for CO President's club members, being a member at the CO Preisdent's Club doesn't grant you Avis PC. It is the presidential plus CREDIT CARD from Chase that gets you an auto invite to Avis President's Club. At the same time, that credit card gets you a full membership to the CO President's Club lounge system.

They are separate offerings.

Chairman's and President's are not really loyalty programs as much as reward perk programs. Them enforcing the program is a benefit to all in it, and also to Avis. I am sure Chase pays something to make those auto invites....

But its not a loyalty program in the truest sense of the word.

You cannot qualify for PC. You cannot rent hundreds or thousands of dollars from AVIS and qualify. Its a by-invitation program only.

Its not a balanced loyalty program. But, it wasnt designed to be.

Code:

I've made Avis First but haven't seen any benefit. I am PC at Hertz and Executive Elite at National and to be honest the *only* reason I continue to rent from Avis is the 2500 bonus skymiles per week. I get much worse cars (booking Intermediate) and treatment from Avis than National or Hertz. There should be another level after Avis First that you can earn that would perhaps give some actual benefits.

Avis best continue to bribe Delta customers with lucrative bonus mile offers or I bet most of us will leave.

I agree 100%

Am I Paranoid?

So...reading this thread has me a bit concerned. I signed up for the status a year or more ago via the link that was posted on 'View from the Wing'. Enjoyed status - have now been downgraded - I'm fine with that. The comment about going on the 'Do Not Rent' list and possibly being prosecuted have me concerned. I don't want any trouble - and frankly wasn't aware that I was in violation of any specific terms/conditions, etc. - as there didn't seem to be any specifics posted when the link was active. Am I overly paranoid here. I certainly don't want some legal action taken against me for signing up to some program I read about on the web.

Somebody set my mind at ease!?!

I'm convinced that that single blog post eventually resulted in Avis PC status becoming useless. What some people will do for blog traffic . . .

You just didn't "sign up" for "some program" you "read about on the web" though. You pledged on that web form that you were a Continental Airlines Presidential Plus cardholder, and thus you had the right to gain entry into AVIS Presidents Club. You knowingly defrauded a program.

Is it "real" fraud? Can you be prosecuted? Who knows...

But just because you read about it on the web, doesnt make it true or legitimate. Just as Bill Gates isn't going to give you an $1000 Abercrombie gift card because you forward an email to 100 friends. There are some things on the web that just are patently incorrect.

Taking a step back, I wonder about the cost-benefit of Avis (or Hertz) putting in-place something between Avis First and PC (and between Hertz 5* and PC). Am I the only one who qualifies for both Avis First and Hertz 5* every year (just in case) but then piles all the rest of the rentals into one or the other? If there was some sort of middle-tier, I'd stick with that provider, and as another poster pointed out (for a different reason), some of us rent a lot of cars but never get invited into the higher tiers...

Perhaps another idea is to raise the qualifications for Avis First and Hertz 5* but ALSO make the benefits/perks much better.

I'm thinking of doing this while the Chase card still exists. Will the PC status just be applied to my existing Avis number (currently First), or will it be a new membership number?

Thank you,
David
