My personal vehicle is a 2007 Ford Escape with a fairly basic single cd / am / fm radio and it accepts mp3 cds. If you ask for an intermediate Ford what does that get you?

Most likely the Intermediate will be a Malibu or Sonata, and most of them will have an MP3 input. I'd just go to your assigned car and take a look. If not go in and ask for something different. If the input is not visible on the dash, check the center console or glovebox before returning. Hint--if you see an "AUX" button on the receiver the jack is likely to be hiding somewhere.

The Sonata goes one step further, at least the one I had a few weeks back. They have a USB port in the center console. I loaded music onto a jump drive, plugged it in and it worked like a gem.

I don't think Ford currently has any intermediate cars... at least by Avis's standards. The Focus is Compact (B) and somehow they classify the Fusion/Milan as Full Size (E).

I can't think of any Fords or GMs right now that don't have an mini input. Even the Chevy Cobalt has it.

The VWs don't have it...

Do NOT accept a Buick Lacrosse if offered. Zero for 2 aux input jacks.

Typical retail customers for Buick LaCrosse think of the IBM Selectric as state-of-the-art. The Selectric dates from the same year (1961) as the V-6 engine architecture found in a LaCrosse.

Dodge PT Cruiser (is this thing dead yet?)
I rented a baseline recent model PT Cruiser last weekend and they have AUX jacks now.
