How do you open the trunk on the Crossfire?

A colleague of mine (with NO status at Avis, with a reservation for a mid side) got a Crossfire when they asked at the counter for "an upgrade." They got a Crossfire, and they can't open the trunk. I looked a bit, but it was dark & I couldn't figure it out. Anyone know how? We didn't see a key hole in the back or any other trick to get it open.

And, yes, I was pissed they got that car. I'm First with about 2 rentals a month at this location and was given "one of the best cars they carry" (as the employee told me)... a Galant with 20K that's absolutely disguesting. The seats, head cover and outside are covered in scratches and dirty-ness. Oh yeah, and the parking brake light is on whenever I'm in first or second gear.

Not sure, but was there no trunk button on the remote? Newer SUVs and crossovers have a pressure sensitive rubber pad up under a chrome bit on the trunk. Not a lot of pressure to pop it open.

Amazing. Even when I have gone to places and I get a clunker there is no chance that they will upgrade me to the only remaining cars on the lot (i.e. the crossfires). BTW - I have ~250 rental days this year.

Yeah, it's amazing what a middle aged man will do when a under 25 female is politely asking for an upgrade with a smile on her face. Even if she's only rented from Avis 4 times in the past b/c she just got a job where she travels regulary. Or he saw her as a source of income for Avis for the next 50 years and thought "maybe if I get her a nice car tonight, she'll always rent from us in the future"... in which case, it would be a very smart ploy, but I doubt it was his train of thought.

Anyway, after some investigation in daylight today, I was able to figure it out. One must HOLD the unlock key on the remote while pulling the external trunk lever to get it to open. Pulling the trunk lever in any other scenario is futile.

Don't you wish the manual could be found in the glove box, so you didn't have to try pushing buttons while standing on your head.

That was my exact thought when I was trying everything possible the other night.

Must be broken because we rented a convertible crossfire and all you had to do was make sure the car was unlocked and press the rubberized button under the trunk lid. You shouldn't have to hold down the unlock button and press the button.

In that case, it must have been broken. When it was unlocked, the button moved, but didn't do anything. When the car was locked, the button wouldn't move. Kind of crazy, but oh well, we got it to work.
