Avis First - What A Mess!
Does anyone else find the conversion of programs from Preferred Select to Avis First to be a mess?
I was Preferred Select, well that's what the Wizard Card in my wallet says. When I looked at my profile at avis.com last week it only said "preferred". So, I tried to log on to preferredselect.com and got routed to avisfirst.com - Surprise! When I entered my Wizard number at avisfirst.com I got a message telling me I wasn't an Avis First member. Next I e-mailed Avis Customer Service and got a response telling me I was Avis First. I was then able to "re-enroll" in Avis' frequent renter program at avisfirst.com. I checked my profile today and is still says "preferred". Avis may think this new program is an enhancement, but the communication of the change has been so poor, they've ticked off some of their most loyal customers. |
Huge mess - I've posted on the Amex forum about this. As platinum card member, I relied on the Preferred Select membership for upgrades. Avis blindsided Amex with the First program and now Amex platinum has no benefits regarding Avis. I was on a conference call with both Amex platinum and Avis supervisors at the same time and it was clear that no one at Amex knew what was happening with Avis.
I was very unhappy with Amex, but now I see it as Avis' fault. If something isn't corrected, I will stop using Avis. |
