Questions about Age and Corporate Code

Hi all, for some background, I am 22 and Avis Preferred Plus. I have a few questions about when you need to go to the desk vs when you can just take a car and leave.

1. Is it correct that in general, the prices for people younger than 25 are far more expensive?
2. When I am logged in to my Avis account, I can't change my age (it's grayed out and locked). What prevents me from just making a booking while logged out and designating my age as 25?
3. Can you only do car pickup without going to the desk if you are Preferred Plus?
4. I found a booking where the corporate code I usually use is actually more expensive than the base rate. The scenario is as follows. If I am logged out and put my age as 25 without my code, it is actually cheaper than being logged in (and therefore age set to 22) with my code. What is the right thing to do here?

Also, what is the difference between an AWD Code, Coupon Code, and Rate Code?

1. What you have seen, is in fact correct. Its more of a risk to have a renter under the age of 25, and therefore it is more expensive.
2. You have to put your actual age in the designated place because they do verify you age at the counter.
3. You can only skip the counter if you a member and have already signed a master rental agreement.
4. Use correct and truthful information when booking, there's no way around that and I understand that you may not agree with the high rates, but they are high for a specific reason, a valid one.

I've only rented once but I was able to skip the counter. What do you mean by "master rental agreement"?

Compare Hertz's AAA rates, which waive the underage fee for retail customers.

Regarding Qu#4: maybe the corp code includes some coverage, hence the higher rate?
