Miami - Avis

Hi folks

I'm booking an Avis rental from Miami next April. I have a couple of queries if I may..

1. Is it best to opt for MIA as a pick up or one of the city offices which are closer to our hotel? Should I assume the airport has a larger selection?
2. I've opted for Luxury [Group H] which shows Chrysler 300 or similar. Any ideas on what vehicles fall into this group?

Thanks for your time

If you rent from the airport, they will hit you with additional airport facilities fees. When I have a choice, I rent from local facilities.

1. Depends what you're looking for. As joeyday notes, the airport will hit you with much higher fees/taxes. But the airport will also likely have multiple choices within the category to get you something different if you dislike what they have, there's a smoke smell, etc., etc.
2. There's a fleet list in this forum. Not always the most up-to-date, but still gives a decent indication of what you might end up with.

Should you choose a local site, DO NOT, under any circumstances, rent from the one at 99 SE 2nd Ave, Miami.

You can see their reviews on Google to get a better idea as to why I'm stressing this.

If you're picky about the car, always go to the airport.

While that's true, it's only relevant when both the airport and off-airport locations have the same base rate. When I price a one-week rental of a Chrysler 300 or similar in Miami in April, I see a lower total price picking up at the airport than at one of the off-airport locations. It might be different if the OP has a contract rate that gives the same base rate at both airport and off-airport locations.
