How long for Avis to transfer partner points?

I returned an Avis rental to MCO on October 15, and my reservation noted that I wanted to earn Hyatt points. It's now December 2, six weeks later, and no points have not shown up in my Hyatt account. (I'm less concerned with the points and more concerned with triggering some activity to keep my Hyatt points from expiring.)

How long should I expect this to take? I realize it may not be instantaneous, but it seems like it should have shown up after six weeks.

Six week is a very long time for points to show up. We'd probably say they are "lost" so you'd want to contact Avis about them. All of that said, the track record for getting rental companies to credit points to 3rd party travel programs is not great. This sort of thing happens all the time.

Based on your advice I contacted Avis. Turns out that the discount code I was using doesn’t allow for earning points. Mystery solved.

When I want to earn airline points, I look to see whether the airline offers something like a 35% off Avis discount too (Alaska Airlines, does). Using an airline/hotel discount code is typically valid for earning airline miles or hotel points. (It usually doesn't have to be the same airline/hotel you're going to credit, as long as it's it's a public code given out to all customers in some aspect of the travel industry.) Using a discount code from everywhere may trickier to determine.

I presume your discount code was not from an airline or hotel program?

It’s a personal use discount code from my employer. It’s a Super duper discount; as in >$100 less than other discount codes.
