Same Day Return on 24 hour rental

I have a car booked with Avis for a one day one-way rental (noon-noon) and really only need a same day rental to go to my appointments and get to the airport hotel.

Instead of returning it the next day before my flight, I would like to return it the night before so I can just take the shuttle to the airport and not deal with the return in the morning.

Would this trigger any re-rates or any other issues?

Thanks!

No - It should not.

Agree. You pay for 24 hours. You can return it in 1 hour or 24 and the price should remain the same.

You might want to keep it overnight just in case of emergency or if your flight is delayed or canceled, but if your flight is in the morning and the scheduled return time is noon, it probably wouldn't make much difference.

That is one important consideration depending on how early one's departure is as well as insuring shuttle availability first.

Example: I checked into the Fairfield Inn Louisville Airport around 9 pm in the current COVID era. At check in, I asked about the shuttle given I was considering departing even earlier than planned (9 am) so that I could standby for an earlier flight (6 am).

Toward that end, I told the front desk agent that I was intending to go fuel up my rental and drop it off and would take the shuttle back to the hotel. However, she informed me that a) the shuttle driver had not reported in for work that day and b) she was the only one at the property and wouldn't be able to leave so I'd have to take an Uber/etc. to get back.

Needless to say, I refueled the rental and kept it so that I could get to the airport and drop the car off first thing in the AM.

I do this quite often (rent for 3 hours). Uber/Lyft prices have been obscene since the pandemic such that it is cheaper for me to do one-way rental on a corporate rate from/to a local location to/from airport.

Genius! Why did I not think of this? I could pick up the car at a local hotel that has free parking and an Avis/Budget desk and then do a one way to the airport.

Should not be an issue. I have done this numerous times.

I do second the consideration of keeping it overnight. I have found at some airports such as LAX the rental car shuttles are much more reliable and frequent than hotel shuttles. YMMV.
