It appears it worked out although the way it presented on the e-receipt is a bit odd...and as usual these days they seem to be sending me 2 e-receipt emails with slightly different formats...bottom line, it showed up as a 'pre-paid' reduction in the base price...not sure how that affected the taxes and all of the other ancillary fees but not worth my time to try and figure it out.

When does the restriction on points redemption end? Labor Day/End of Summer? Extremely frustrating not to be able to use points for a part of the year, but I guess those are the T&C (when you can find them)

No way to redeem points
 

I can't find any rentals for points redemptions; tried multiple dates airports, several months out. Even when rates are less than $50/day. What's going on? There are restrictions on WHEN redemption reservations can be made??? What??

I have significant issues trying to redeem points also. I think its a website and app issue and they purposely don't care to fix it.
On the website I can never get it to give me points options. With the app, it'll show an option to redeem points but then never actually works or lets me add any more than 1 day.

Make sure you don't have a contract code inserted when you try to make the reservation. If you do it wont show you the points redemption option as the points on work on the regular rates.

Access to points during the res process has returned...

It was not available for me just now on the web. The APP is a disaster at the moment so not sure until the login gets sorted, but no points option was available. I'm Prez with almost 4k points at the moment, not that that should matter I presume.

What can one get with 4k Avis points?

It's always been unclear to me a) how/when I can redeem my points and b) what I can get for them

Overall stupid program IMO.

I've had options to use points for a free day or two on a drop-down previously. IIRC 7-900 points for a day. I am fairly new to Avis compared to many years at Hertz, but doing more Avis lately due to their hours at a few airports I use. The app is horrid in my experience, but of course YMMV.

Is there any alternative to earning Avis points? Admittedly I haven't looked that hard. Back in the day with Hertz I could earn airline miles, though IIRC they did have some sort of surcharge for that. I have never used my Avis points and I honestly don't see it ever happening.
