Estimated amount changes after confirming
 
I was booking a reservation with Avis, and the amount I got on the page with "Confirm" button - was different than the amount I got after I pressed the button. The latter was higher by ~$30.

At first I thought I got it wrong - so I pressed the Back button in my browser. The previous page was still there, and showing the (lower) amount I expected. Then I received the confirmation email with the higher amount.

I called Avis, and they promised to look into it, asked me to send my screenshot. But I must say it is becoming a norm rather than an exception.

On another occasion today, the AWD code I entered in order to get some bonus miles - wasn't appearing on the final confirmation. There was my regular AWD instead - so I'm not sure now whether I'd receive my Aeroplan miles. When I asked the lady on the phone to check, she said "we can't do it until the rental is completed". What??? So there's no way for me to know my true estimated price including the bonus miles - beforehand? Really?

I also have several past rentals with Aeroplan miles missing. Those rentals were booked at the same time, with the same code - and according to the same promotion. One rental shows all bonus miles, another one, a week later - only the regular ones.

I am shaking my head in disbelief of how fast Avis's quality of service is deteriorating. Their CS people are now refusing to do any goodwill adjustments, period. "Send us the info, we'll review it and get back to you". I've got Avis Preferred status, been with Avis for over 12 years - and this is what I get? This is really appalling...

I wonder if your issue is caused by the same underlying computer issue that affects my discrepancy between prepaid (pay now) rates and amount due at counter. See here: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/avis...e-counter.html

I do agree with your overall assessment of Avis right now. If it weren’t for the local station and manager that I use for local work rentals, I’d be wondering if the grass wasn’t greener.
