Class to rent for guaranteed V8
 

Looking to rent a muscle car from Avis/Budget PSP and, I would like to have a V8 for my trip. I'm looking at the Standard Elite Coupe right now. Would this be the best class to rent?

Unfortunately, there's nothing near a guarantee that you'll get a V8, nor is there a need for a V8. Many 6 cylinders now put out as much power as V8s used to. But if you feel the need for a V8, the best classes to book would be Standard Elite Coupe or the Corvette.

Thanks for the advice on what class to rent. The V6 offerings from Chevrolet and Dodge don't come close to the V8's and, Ford doesn't offer a 6 cylinder mustang any longer.

I rented the 4-banger Mustang a couple of months ago. It was surprisingly quick, especially in a high-altitude location like Salt Lake City and the surrounding mountains. While it doesn't beat the V8 by any means, it was a fun and fuel-efficient alternative. I would definitely rent it again, even being a GM guy.

Nothing like a good V8. You most certainly can tell the difference.

If you rent a large SUV you will usually get a V8. Yukon (XL), Tahoe (Suburban), Sequoia... Escalade (ESV), etc.
