Need some type of discount

So, I’ve been traveling and renting Avis cars for the past 8 months. I’m now in illinois(expensive taxes) so I rent in Indiana. I can get a full size for about $197 after taxes and I usually extend for an additional 3 weeks for a total of 4 weeks. Issue is. The extended rate is $245ish a week. Nowhere near the initial weeks cost. Now, the other locations I’ve used In the past have all extended at the same rate if I call them(sometime just adding a $10 extension fee) but sometime even making the rental cheaper. My question is, I may just go ahead and get a full month rental. I’m used to paying $6-700 for a month. But it’s almost $1k here. About $850 if I prepay. Any good coupon code out there? For a week, or a month or a way to guarantee that I can extend week by week and actually get charged the weekly rate instead of the daily rate even though I’m extending by week? Im an Avis preferred plus member and using AWD code A047900 if that makes any difference

i just believe that a rate going from $197 for the week, to $245 on any additional extended weeks are outrageous.

Have you tried looking at the thread and trying discounts that you're eligible for?

Otherwise, your post is way too vague for anyone here to help. You need to list dates and locations if you want anyone to look into helping.

OP: Are you applying the coupons/discounts available at the "Offers" tab at avis.com? I see $25 off $175, $75 off of $600, 10% off a monthly rental, etc.

If using the Avis/AARP AWD number (A359800) yields a significantly better rate than what you are seeing, you can call AARP and join as an "Associate" member for ~ $16/year, even if you are not yet 50. You can normally combine the AARP rate with dollars-off coupons.

Edited to add: You might also consider renting from Budget. AARP members get a discount with Budget also (Budget BCD Y508501).
