Discount or miles in Manhattan?
 

I regularly rent cars from off-airport locations in Manhattan (weekends) and never was able to find any discount code, or get miles for my rental.

Is this normal?

Unfortunately, I've run into the same problem in terms of getting FF miles for the rental. Just another way of making us pay for living in the Big City, I guess.

Don't you realize that for being one of the lucky ones who managed to even get a car in town on a weekend, the rental companies seem to think that they are doing you a huge favor, for which you should be grateful and happy to pay thru the nose for.
As far as coupons and miles, there probably is nobody working at any rental car counter in Manhattan that would take any cognizance of such things nor make any effort to work on it. I repeat, don't you realize that they are doing you a favor and why are you bothering them with anything more than just taking out the car?

if you rent from manhattan locations, all you get is the car you reserved (hopefully) and nothing else. no miles, starwood points, nothing. i am preferred plus and have never once gotten an upgrade. N-E-V-E-R.
