Avis Mileage Redemption - Worth It?
Hi friends :)
I was wondering - for Avis, you can get 50 United miles per day. However, do you lose the right to get free rentals? I don't really understand their promotion program. Trying to figure out which is the best redemption method. Thank you, -Albert  |
I presume you're talking about Avis First (or above). You have to be at least Avis First to be able to earn so-called free weekend rental certificates. And you don't qualify for those if you earn miles or hotel points on your rental.
But virtually everyone here feels that the so-called free weekend rental certificates are worth so little, that you certainly shouldn't worry about them if there's any sort of airlne or hotel bonus you can earn on your rental. They aren't really free (certain taxes and fees are excluded, optoinal coverage is not incluced, and btw remember that your credit card collision coverage doesn't work if you use one of these so-called free weekend rental certificates. And they're only good for up to 2 days, and only work with a Saturday stay, so that's more ways that in many cases they're no so free or wothwhile. Meanwhile, wIth so many airline (and hotel) bonuses around: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/avis/...romotions.html http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/avis/...0-31-12-a.html (also AA thru 11-30-12) http://www.frequentflyerbonuses.com/carbonus.html why earn only 50 miles per day? |
