Rental Cost More when signed in??
 

Has this ever happend to anyone? I priced out a 2 day rental using a discount code. I get a much lower price using the discount code when NOT logged into my Avis First account then when logged in. I tried this for 2 different rentals at different locations that I have comming up and both were higher when logged in. I booked them without logging in to save almost 50% of the total cost. I then called Avis to have my wizzard # added but the agent said the rate goes up...ALOT. I said nevermind I'll save my $$.

Anyone have any idea why this is happening? What good is being Avis First if when I show up I'm just going to be treated like "Joe Regular" with out having my rental all ready? I do however refuse to pay almost double to be Avis Preferred!!

In my experience, this happens when you try and use some restricted AWD codes. Since your wizard#/Avis1st account is presumably linked to another AWD, the system reverts the reservation to the rate that your profile dictates it should.

It must be programmed that if an AWD is preset from your wizard#, you are not therefore entitled to the restricted AWD, and it removes it.

The only workaround I have found is to get the restricted AWD entered into your Avis profile as your standard AWD, but that is a tricky process and many agents will refuse to do it unless you can prove that you are entitled.
