Need Avis First

I've been preferred for the last few years (only have had about 20 rentals over a 3-year lifetime). I guess you need 12 rentals in a single year to qualify for Avis First

However, even as preferred, I have always got free one-class or even two-classes upgrade at US locations. In YVR however, they refused me an upgrade even though there were cars (they told me I'm only preferred)

Any tricks to get First without doing 12 rentals in a calendar year?

I think you can get First with 35 days instead of 12 rentals if you have longer rentals. However, most Canadian locations are STINGY on upgrades. As Avis First (or whatever they used to call it), I couldn't get upgrades at YYZ or YUL, except the random upgrade from mid-size to the old Taurus :td:

As Pres. Club or Chairman, it's also been very difficult, unless there's a manager around.
