Just flew MIA BOG on 788. The cabin and seats were in really poor condition. No pillows or duvets available, though the Purser did find me a very comfortable blanket.
Dinner consisted of the following:
(No appetizer of any kind)
Choice of salmon or pasta
Choice of two warm breads
Packaged blueberry muffin for dessert
By far the most basic meal I have had on any flight of 2-3 hours.

So yes, the price was good for business class. The on board service was probably the worst business classes Ive been on. Nice crew but, food & drink awful.
Miami check in was bad.
The guy tried to tell me that I couldnt use business class check-in as its only for Star Alliance Gold.
The Turkish Airlines lounge was beyond over crowded so went to a restaurant instead.
MIA - BOG

Single course. Blueberry muffin for dessert. The red wine was awful. Ive had nicer meals on 1 hour flights in Europe.
Lounge in Bogota was fine. Used the shower facility and it was basic but did the job.
BOG - GRU
I slept for this sector. Blanket & pillow were both fine. Was able to sleep pretty well.

Did get an amenity kit on this sector.
GRU - MIA
I woke up late so have no idea if there was a lounge facility in T2.

Pretty standard egg breakfast. Not particularly tasty but, wasnt unhappy. I asked for a mimosa, no sparkling wine onboard.
No pillow but did get the same blanket as BOG-GRU.
Towards the end of the flight I asked for a gin & tonic. Apparently no alcohol other than red & white wine on board.
Did get a snack basket before landing. Very nice crew insisted I tried some of the local snacks. They were indeed nice.
BOG - MIA
This flight unfortunately business wasnt available as it was on the A319. So was in Premium.
I went to use the lounge as every airline I fly on allows you access if you just came off a business class flight and are connecting. No doesnt work that way with Avianca.
The flight itself was ok. Its the old business class seat just without service. Was comfortable for 3 hours.
One thing I will note. Priority baggage delivery worked wonderfully every time.
Would I book it again? Yes if the price is right. Going on AA to get nicer bedding, meal & champagne wouldnt have been worth the double in price.

Excattly I personally never eat onbaord as I prefer to go to a good restaurant before flight. All I need is a flat bed seat. Avianca delivers the best price for flat bed seats on many routes.

Hey, at least you got a notification. I have tickets on AV-83 LAX-BOG on their 787 in business class for the first week in February. They just stopped flying this route in late October, looks like my early February flight is canceled. Zero notification. Gee, thanks.
