I had been reading this thread trying to determine if an XS fare would work for me as a non-AV *G member flying from Colombia to the US on Avianca. I figured an XS fare would suffice (I just have a backpack and a carry-on), but wanted to report my experience for anyone who may be investigating as well. I entered my SK *G when I purchased the XS ticket, but nothing prior to check-in indicated what that might get me. During check in, it was made clear that 1 carry-on and 1 checked bag were included for me with the option to pay more for additional allowances in each category (I forgot to check the price). I was assigned an aisle seat about 3/4th of the way back (which was fine for me); any other option would have required payment. I received Boarding Group A.

I was not able to choose a seat for free during check-in, but I was assigned a window seat in the Plus-area of the airplane and there was a free seat next to me. I don't think there is fast track at BOG airport domestic terminal for status passengers (there is, however, fast track for pregnant women, disabled people, etc) so I can't say anything about fast track. I only had a personal item with me and I didn't talk to any Avianca staff at the airport. There were other passengers on the plane that had full-size cabin bags, but I could not see that they had tags, labels or anything else attached to their cabin bags. I had no problems getting into the domestic Avianca lounge, which by the way was very nice and big (but it wouldn't hurt if they offered a little more varity of food). I was assigned to boarding group A, which meant I could board first along with families with children, disabled people, etc so that should be considered priority boarding. My ticket was booked into fare code S and I received 500 miles to my Aegean Miles+Bonus account a few days after the flight.
Thanks for the report, very much appreciated.
Similar conditions here, A3G but booking all M classes because I would like to get 2 20kg bags onboard, one paid and one free. Reading all of the above I guess I should not have problem, right? Thanks a lot for the very informative thread

Just to report back, I took 6 flights with M and had no issues whatsoever in checking 2 luggages so it was a good experience. The only thing to note is that in all cases the agents were a bit rude/unresponsive to questions or particular needs (for example, seat change or emergency row seats) but that's probably because of stress due to the high load in airports these days.
