I'm pretty sure there is wording in the Avianca programme that miles remain the property of the issuer, that they may be subject to devaluation in the future, etc...

And you have a right to fight back at something you won’t be receiving. Im not instructing anyone to do anything they don’t want to.

If someone wants to get their money back on LM they purchased in the last 60 days feel free to PM me. That is all

Have an ANA redemption booked for January. Already getting a bit nervous. Debating back and forth paying the $150 fee and moving the trip up to August. Singapore is hot whether it’s January or August haha.

What HAVE they don’t in the past? Does anyone know? I would think if your ticket is issued it wouldn’t matter, but I don’t know for certain.

I guess ANA could honor already issued tickets, but i’d rather not find out the hard way upon checking in the day of for the flight.

So once you pay the $150... if flights are cancelled in August you'll be out $150 AND you'll have Lifemiles you're nervous about getting value from.

True. I’ll sit tight for right now.

Ha, no, my flights for Japan/China/Taiwan travel in May were all vaporized and I wouldn't have valid entry visas/ability to stay out of quarantine to make flights needed for my vacation anyway. There's leisure travel still officially "on the books" for early June to Vegas but I'm playing airline chicken and waiting for flight cancellations so I can refund instead of get airline credit; if pools and most restaurants are closed and there's just depressing plexiglass barriers in mostly empty casinos (which it's looking like we'll be seeing) I see zero point in doing it. There's a complete ban on business travel for my company through June.

I just pulled the trigger and liquidated all of my Life Miles to buy stuff on Amazon. Between their obvious financial problems, ridiculous challenges finding award tickets even before the crisis, and now the current situation, I'd rather take something at this point than wait for them to vaporize over the next 12 months. Maybe my view of Avianca / this program is overly pessimistic, but the situation seems really bad all around.

Can you say a bit more about how this works, including the redemption value? I couldn't find much info online.

Redemption value was garbage--around .65 cents per point. You have to install this clunky browser add on that allows you to pay with points. Half the time when you get to the checkout page it doesn't work, so you need to reload and hope it catches. It's a poor way to spend lifemiles, but at this point they have almost no value to me. I figured it's time to move on from Avianca.
