Avianca Cancelation & Itinerary Change Policy

Hello,
I'm just wondering what "Flex" means when I buy this fare with Avianca. Let's pretend I have to rebook a flight to another day. Before booking a flight you get this overview:

An Itinerary change is possible and marked with a "star". Taking a clother look, there is no further explanation. When taking a look on "More Detail" this page shows up: http://www.avianca.com/en-eu/travel-...e-options.aspx . Again with no further information.

My questions:
- Is it possible to change a flight when booking Flex?
- How much is it?
- How to do?

Even for cancelations it would be good to know how a general procedure looks like.

Here http://www.avianca.com/en-ar/faq.aspx#tabs-2 you find the following statement:
4. How can I change my travel date?

Date changes are subject to space availability. Depending on the Fare Type, you must pay a change penalty, which depend on the conditions of each Fare Type. If the original fare is not available you must also pay the different between the current and original fare. To make the date change you can contact our call center.
But it seems to be a secret how much the change penalty is...

I used the Avianca chat on their website and got the following answer.

For multi city bookings:
In this case we will be able to tell what would be the restrictions of the ticket (penalty fee plus fare difference that applies) once the ticket has been issued. Since this will be a combination of fares even if you book them all on flexi.
For "normal" flghts here: http://us.avianca.com/en/travel-info.../fare-options/ --> and then you have to choose the location of your flight.

Even though this may not be a Lifemiles ticket I am sure someone could answer the question in the Cancellation thread. Change penalty on revenue tickets is based on the fare type purchased. What is the fare booking class, and what is the itinerary?

So the answers are all listed in the fare rules of your ticket type. Just pick up the phone and call them or visit their closest office. You may have gotten an experienced agent.

I can't tell you what the penalty is, they used to show it when you go to a mock booking. What I can tell you is that it's different depending on the destination. If it's a domestic flight, best guess is it's a bit cheaper, but a long haul or flight to the US it's probably maxed out.

I'm not gonna look, but you can if you like. Make a mock booking, when you go to pick your flight, highlight over the different booking classes and you SHOULD find the info. It's been a while since I've done that so they may have changed their IT since then, but I remember I had to change a domestic flight once, but the flight was so cheap I just no-showed it instead.

Avianca Cancellation on a Partially Used Ticket

Does anyone know if one can cancel a partially used ticket?

Rules for Intra Peru state cancellation is possible with 100% refund but doesn't clearly say about partially used whether there is a refund.

" CANCELLATIONS

ANY TIME
CANCELLATIONS PERMITTED.
NOTE -
NOTE-
TICKETS SOLD IN ARGENTINA MAY ONLY BE REFUND IN
ARGENTINA.
1.FARES ARE FULLY REFUNDABLE IN SINGLE
FORM OF PAYMENT.
2.RESERVATION CANCELLED RETAINS TICKET
VALUE/LESS APPLICABLE DIFFERENCE IN FARE FOR
FLOWN SEGMENTS UP TO ONE YEAR FROM THE
ORIGINAL DATE OF TICKET ISSUE.

"

I'm assuming this means in the form of a travel credit?

You can cancel a partially flown ticket, but the refundable amount will be shockingly low. (original fare - flown segments - cancellation penalty = refundable amount)
The info you quote is for fully unused tickets by the way.
Check the section for change/cancel after departure or after first segment flown.
Or, post the full fare basis for your ticket here (E.g. UPA14TFG or something similar in your eticket) and someone may be able to pull up the full fare rules on Expert Flyer.
Or, call your TA/Avianca and ask about the refund amount.
