Can I stack 15% discount on top of current 140% bonus offer?

I am Popular Avianca LifeMiles card holder now. They advertise 15% discount for card holder. I read thru fineprint. It mentioned that card number must start with certain digits (but I think it sounded like it applies to Columbian account holder).

Has anyone leveraged 15% credit card discount by stacking with bonus mile purchase offer?

Thanks,

Picked up LifeMiles at ~1.3 cents per mile and book LAX-NRT in ANA F for 90,000, and ICN-LAX in F for 76,000. Not to bad.

How Did You Get 1.3 Cent a Mile?

Hello JHake10,

How did you get 1.3 cent a mile? Even with 140% promo it is 1.35 (or 1.4 if your round up) cent a mile. 0.05 cent matters when we are talking about 100,000 or 200,000 miles. I am curious.

Thanks.

As you know LifeMiles frequently has bonuses for a select time. Typically during that time LifeMiles offers a discount on top of that to readers of OMAAT (this offer has since expired). Additionally, you can only get the lowest price by purchasing the highest tier of points as well. All in all, it comes out to 1.375. I was truncating rather than rounding appropriately. Sorry about that.

Hello JHake10,

thank you for your response. I missed that 140% bonus offer. Time to time I receive email offer of 125% bonus from Avianca directly. I think I have seen someone asking this question on Avianca forum and it may have bee answered. But if you have a credit card issued by Avianca, I think there are two kinds now, do you get 15% discount on purchased miles? Will it be combined with such offers as the 140% or 125% bonus? If yes, it will further reduce the purchase price of their miles. Again, I am sorry if this has been asked and answered already. But someone in the know could chime in?

Thank you.

I can't help ya on that one. I don't know much about the Avianca credit card portfolio. I do know that Avianca processes their own mileage sales. This means the charge codes as Airline/Airfare. 5x on AMEX Platinum!

those are very valid questions on accrual/discounts with the Avianca CC. Better to ask again in the forum pages below.

Thank you Tokyoite for the links.

I skimmed them through and found out many people have issues with LM Credit Cards. Kinda scary...

I found one posting stating he got 15% discount when he bought 51K miles at pay-for-one-mile-and-get-two miles promo. But I know that's not as good as occasional pay-for-one-and-get-for-two miles + 25% (so effectively 125% bonus) promotion. And I am talking about the recent 140% (I hope I am right about this) promo offered to a lucky group of people.
