Does anyone know if Lifemiles will waive cancellation fees for an award ticket due to COVID-19 concerns?
Unfortunately, barring an outright flight cancellation, Lifemiles will not waive cancel fees.
Just pay the $200 as a "self caution fee". (nobody is actually preventing you the passenger from flying as you booked).
In the future, it would be wise to invest in travel insurance.
=====
Transferring Amex MR points will extend expiration of LM. Post #906 confirms this. Expiration date updates overnight, so wait 24 hours after the transferred miles have posted to LM.
LifeMiles' Star Alliance Award Chart
Cash & Miles redemptions: the price per mile purchased during award booking varies significantly depending on how many miles are purchased. The "sweet spots" are between 38% and 58% of the total mileage required, where miles are purchased for 1.5 cents. See here for some examples.
Beware of Cabotage: LifeMiles has been known to issue tickets that constitute Cabotage, and at least one instance of denied boarding has been reported, stranding the passenger. An example is travel on Avianca from LAX to SJU (via SAL/BOG). For additional information see the WIKI of this thread.

Miles Expiration Policy valid from April 15th , 2018.
- Any miles accrual transaction in a members account in the Program extends the validity of the miles in the account of such member for a term of twelve (12) months from the date of such accrual of miles. Other transactions that may affect the balance of miles in a members account, including redemption transactions, will have no effect on them and will not extend the validity of the miles in such account. This general rule will have the following exceptions that extend the validity of such miles in the account of such member for twenty-four (24) months from the date of such accrual: (i) any accrual of miles in a members account with an Elite Status at the time of the accrual; (ii) any accrual of miles derived from a cobranded credit or debit cards under the LifeMiles brand.
- ......the following accrual activities do not extend the validity of the miles in the members account: 1) the birthday bonus or any other miles bonus that may be given by the LifeMiles Program and LifeMiles LTD so establishes.; 2) the migration of points or miles from other loyalty programs to the LifeMiles Program made as a consequence of the union of both loyalty programs or the migration of one member from another loyalty program to the LifeMiles Program; and 3) the merger of accounts of the LifeMiles Program, including those derived from a members duplicate accounts.

Because I thought it would be 200% and everyone else was 100% (missed Aeroplan 150%), and even if they sell them cheaply the lowest I've seen is $0.013 or so and I don't value any other airline at 2.6 cents.

What's the best course of action to book a flight sequence that does not show up on LM but appears on UA/Aeroplan/ANA/etc.
I.e USA-FRA-VCE via LH, but LM is only giving me the option with the shortest layover when UA/Aeroplan lets me select 3-4 different layover durations.
I know people have mentioned the screenshot method, but I am worried staff will not respond in time.
I would greatly appreciate any insight. Thank you!

I have never used the screenshot method. Hard to imagine sorting out the award and the associated payment via customer service. The last cancellation was a 4 week ordeal with daily calls of no purpose. I never imagined handing over $200 wouldn't be an easy process. I never did receive the refund for the taxes and fees.

Hello everyone, first timer on Avianca here. I will need to take 4/5 flights in Colombia soon and I would like to understand how the various XS/S/M/L fares match to the actual ticketed fare letter. I am on A3's program and I would like to understand how many miles I will get with each ticket. Is there a conversion table somewhere? As of today I am checking AMEX travels or Expedia to guess the fare letter but maybe there's a better way. Thanks a lot

Question about LifeMile credit card transfer partners. According to the LifeMile site, they just started a 15% transfer bonus on miles imported from Capital One Venture. It says it began today and runs until 9/30; however, when I goto my Capital One account, I do not see any mention of this bonus, does this just happen? It is done on the side of LifeMiles? Last month, American Express had a similar transfer bonus, and the AmEx portal actually mentioned the bonus. Perhaps it just has not yet been updated on the side of Capital One?
UPDATE: Yep, I can confirm the bonus happened instantly despite no mention of the bonus on the Capital One site. The next day (9/16) I transferred and received the expected bonus!

Hi everyone!
i am new with LM and read about wrong TG Award? I am seeing availability ZRH-BKK-CGK in Aug, but United as an example doesn't show it. Before i buy LM Miles with the current Discount, is this award to be trusted? Additionally i see TK Awards (also visible on Aeroplan) so i assume it is more trustworthy?
Thanks for the help and kind regards

But if you are purchasing LifeMIles with a specific itinerary in mind, you are most likely goign to be disappointed. LifeMiles is fun as you can buy miles cheap and easy and then work for day, weeks, months to find interesting itineraries. I never in wildest dreams thought about going to Sweden, as an example...

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Same issue with the other airline loyalty programs. Endless phantom JAL flights on AA.

I am a LM newbie and have never booked an award before. Zero miles in the account, but plenty of MR points ready to transfer. I'm seeing award availability for a one-way flight I'd like to book: JFK-GVA-FRA all on LX, in J. I see the same availability on UA's site. However, when I select the flights on LM, I get an error message stating "We're sorry, but we're unable to process your request" with no further info. I realize I have no miles in the account, but if I select other flight options, such as LH in Y, I at least get a message stating I don't have enough miles, not the other cryptic message I see when I select the LX flights. Is this typical? I don't want to transfer points and not be able to book the flights.
