That's what I was thinking. That "More money" button seems to always come out half price for me, with or without the sale, but I'm always on AV metal when I redeem. Could be different on OAL, as they have to pay for that.

The price per 1K miles using "More Money" varies with the quantity you're purchasing, but IME there is always a sweet spot where the price is USD15 per 1K (and I always look for redemptions on *A flights, not AV itself)

Ahh never checked honestly, ended up using 50k AS from the recent credit card offer. Must say, I am pretty excited for this ICN-HKG-JFK flight in J on CX.
