TACA baggage & connection
I'm thinking of buying an economy ticket on
TA 816 19:30 AQP-LIM 21:00
with a connection on
TA 921 21:50 LIM-RIO in business class award ticket
1. Will my bags be thru-checked at AQP to RIO?
2. Will my bags get priority handling since LIM-RIO is in biz class?
3. What will happen if TA816 was delayed or I miss my connection
at LIM since it's only a 50-minute layover? My biz award ticket
is issued by Air Canada, not TACA.
4. Is 50 minute enough time to connect in LIM?

Don't do it! Although technically it can be just within MCT (50 minutes), TACA won't responsible if you miss your connection as you are travelling with separate tickets which aren't even issued by the same airline. You can miss your flight to Rio even if the TACA flight from AQP is ontime as you have pass through immigrations,security in Lima and quite often bus transfer is required with domestic arrivals...

How much layover time you need in Lima? Our friends are buying a biz class tix AQP-LIM-RIO. We are thinking of asking them to check our bags as their baggage so at least we don't have to worry about picking bags up and rechecking them upon arrival in LIM.
Another possibility is taking a LAN flight arriving @19:55. That leaves
2 hours for our conncecting flight on TACA to RIO. Would that be a better
option if we are only travelling with carry on?
