Flying Asiana but booked through Air Canada

Itinerary is as follows:

Outbound: SFO to ICN nonstop via Asiana Air

Inbound: ICN to TPE via Asiana; then TPE to SFO via EVA Air

1) I signed up for an Asiana account, and I can only see my flight info if I enter my reservation number. How can I get it to show through the Asiana app/website?

2) How do I communicate my meal preferences to Asiana?

I actually have a similar issue.

Booked 2 Asiana award tickets through AC ICN-LAX for next April.

Couldn't pull up the reservation on the Asiana website with the provided PNR so I called Air Canada. The rep and supervisor spent a good amount of time trying to get the Asiana PNR with no luck. They assured me they spoke with Asiana and the ticket was valid. I also have eticket number so I assume it's a confirmed ticket.

I might call back, but the hold times are brutal. Strange situation indeed.

Which number did you try?

The US number I called said they were too busy to answer

Edit - just called Asiana again, this time was got through. The rep said the AC PNR is the only one and I can't manage the booking online. I could request a special meal through the phone though and I confirmed the seats AC requested were confirmed.

I don't fly Star Alliance often, but I don't think I've ever had an airline fail to provide their own, or use the booking carrier PNR to manage the booking on their website.

I am able to pull up my reservation using the Air Canada confirmation number; however, the Asiana website errors out when I attempt to enter my passport information. All of my information is already on the AC booking, so I'm not sure if I need to enter in Asiana as well.

Thank you for the heads up.

I went ahead and signed up for an Asiana account. Now I am able to pull up the reservation using the AC PNR. It only shows my ticket though, and not my companion who is also booked on the same reservation. Really unintuitive web platform.

Welcome to Korean technology. The same also happens with Korean Air. If you book on say, Delta, Delta has ZERO CONTROL over your reservation, nothing sticks, and even Korean Air can't do a dang thing for you because "delta controls the reservation." Sounds like the exact same thing here.

The ONLY way to do ANYTHING is to get an Asiana reservation confirmation number and use that in their system. Not the AC number, doesn't matter if you are a member of Asiana or not (but that helps the process lol)

That's really strange.

When I spoke with Asiana, they insisted the only PNR was the AC one. They did say my seats were confirmed so I guess there's some level of control if you speak with them over the phone.

I don’t think you actually read the thread properly, nor know what you’re talking about…

OZ DOES NOT issue a separate reservation number as OZ uses the same reservation number that their partner issues. This is for both paid codeshares and mileage redemptions.

But while you can bring up the booking on the OZ website, you can’t make any choices or changes re seating. You need to call in to do that.

As noted above Korean IT (OZ or KE) is not always the most friendly to tickets that didn't come from their respective systems. It's also the same most of the time when the Korean systems going to a non Korean airline. I've usually had to call Asiana and Korean to choose/change seats almost every time with UA and DL tickets. It's hit and miss the other way around.
The LA Asiana office is usually excellent in helping on everything except changing the ticket itself before they actually get control of it. I was having issues with a UA booked reservation, most all on OZ (RNO-LAX on UA, LAX-PUS on OZ), and had no issues adding all of my information (passport, FF, seat selection) but even with a schedule change they couldn't do anything and ended up calling UA to fix the issue.

Idk if OP completed the trip or not but..

One thing I was able to do when I booked an OZ flight using UA miles was called Asiana and switch the FF number on the PNR from UA to OZ. Then, I could access the reservation on my account and pretty much do everything (selecting seat, inputting passport info, etc).

Is it possible that the reservation number in Asiana's system is different from what you have received from AC? It happed to me when booking through British Airways to fly with another airline. British Airways provided me a reservation number but I cannot find the reservation in another airline's website. Had to called the customer service about it.

No it's not. Read my post 3 before yours.
