Um ok?
How? I think flight 202 has been the A380 for a while now, right?

Interesting to see how they allocate aircraft for these pretty significant cities. Hopefully no changes for the 380 SYD service during the winter.

Had the choice between 202 and 204 in J and randomly chose 202. Am I ever glad I did! I sleep really well on the A380 (better than in F on other carriers).

FlightAware is showing 204 is being flown with 77L, 772, and A359. Interesting that it's not even consistent...

It's consistent if you realize that the 77L is OZ's internal code for the Smartium-equipped 772 — so e.g. flightradar24 will show 77L before a flight, but it updates to 772 when it's actually flown (although flightaware just says 77L throughout).

Also the A359 is on T/Th/S/Su departures ex-ICN, with the 772 (or 388 from 5/21) on M/W/F.

@truncated & @mduell, looking to book J on Asiana in 4/2019. Is it possible to see what they plan to use right now (i.e., A359 or A388)?

Is it possible that on 8/24 only OZ203 LAX-ICN is being operated by a 747? Or is that an error

Looks correct as of right now. Yikes.

Lovely. Does that sort of thing ever change, or did I just hit the 20-yr-old angled lie flat jackpot?

Seems like the HKG route stole your 388 on that day. OZ has been using 744 to operate OZ745/6. I was on HKG/ICN/LAX last month. And months ago I was operationally upgraded from Y to J (Y food though), and OZ changed 747 to 388 1 month prior to my departure.

Stumbled upon this post. I am flying ICN-LAX June 9, 2019 (Sunday) in F on OZ204. This flight is one leg of a larger trip, all booked with Aeroplan.

Is there a way to see the current aircraft rotation schedule? I read above about winter/summer schedules and various days being one or the other aircraft.

My current itinerary for OZ204 shows A380 and I have selected my seats by calling into Asiana.

I selected this return flight to fly F. I understand the airlines can make aircraft substitutions from time to time

Flightaware only seems to show recent flights. When I looked at the 20-Aug-18 to 03-Sep-18 range that appears, it would appear M-F-W are 388 or in one case 744.

Checked info.flightmapper and it would appear in 2018 the A359 is in use TU-TH-SA-SU May 1 to Oct 10.

I am confused on why an Asiana agent could book me F seats on the A380 if it was not the aircraft currently scheduled and my flight is on a Sunday.

Wondering if I need to start looking for other options home to improve my chances of F. Any advice would be appreciated

A380 is like a placeholder for OZ204. Asiana will change a few months before the summer (January or so) if it wants to use A359 every other day. And last-minute swap, like 744, is confirmed one months before a flight.

Thanks. Is this normal for more airlines or just OZ?

I guess I should have a plan B, just in case. I can come home through Frankfurt instead by watching T-15 availability on LH.

Yup, got the email on Tuesday that my flight had been downgraded (I was in F). Luckily, my award was on SQ and I was waitlisted for the SQ flight in F, so they agreed to confirm my seats on that flight instead. I had to forfeit the incremental miles I had used for a Star Alliance booking, but did not have any other options, and still happy to be flying in F
