New 77L Config?

Hey everyone. I have been seeing a new 77L config of C24Y277 pop up in the schedule recently and I'm wondering if anyone has any insight into what it may be.

The seat map on Expert Flyer seems to closely match the existing C24Y271 config here: http://us.flyasiana.com/C/popup/en/B777_pop.html

The config remains 3-3-3 and doesn't go to 3-4-3. Could this be a refurb of Economy since the existing IFE is quite outdated?

Seeing the first instance of this new config on ICN-NRT March 10-March 24 on days 2345. Moves to ICN-CDG on May 10 on days 1357.

Thanks for any insights!

I looked up 3/19 ICN-ORD and found the same thing. This must be HL7775, the 3-class 777 which is currently on the work removing-F & installing-smartium C for nearly a month. F class on all 4 777s will be removed before summer 2017.

I'm so glad that Asiana didn't go 3-4-3. But one row is added in the last Y section. Seat pitch must have reduced.

What's also interesting is that Asiana need to send an aircraft with more than 300 seats to CDG 4/w, and 250-299 seater on the other 1/w. That's why Asiana kept two 300-seater 772 until now and they will retire this year. New config is 301 seater - perfect for CDG.

I see my BKK-ICN flight operated with B77L but seat map shows only 22 seats. I see this config on the OZ web site (the third from left - http://us.flyasiana.com/C/popup/en/B777_pop.html).

That's one of the existing 2-class configs and won't be touched. Only 3-class 777s (1st and 2nd of your link) will be modified this time. 3rd and 4th configs won't be modified and 5th one is retiring sometime this year.

I check today's korean website for asiana and there is a 6th 777 seat map for 302 seats. (http://flyasiana.com/CW/ko/common/pa...d=PC_0699#none). Seems only the 300 seats one doesn't have Business Smartinum seat.

I book Dec.14 ORD-ICN and it's a 22-seats business one comes with Smartinum.

302 seater must be converted from 246 seaters. Two 246 seaters are currently being converted (removing F) one by one. Instead of unifying into any other configuration, Asiana created one more kind. Two 300 seaters are retiring later this year. That will leave four different configs for merely 9 772s.

How many OZ 777s are left with the old slanted J seats in 2x3x2 configuration?

Two. They are supposed to leave this year.

These two are supposed to run short- or medium hauls only, but they did 8 (!) long haul roundtrips this week - 3 CDG 2 VCE (Venice charter) 1 each to LHR ORD FCO.. Along with occasional 380 swapped into 747, I cannot recommend C-class trip with Asiana to anyone.

LHR isn't low yield so I'm surprised that OZ's network planning team couldn't find a better aircraft to operate such a competitive route.

I have a feeling the 777 will get replaced on this route when more A350s are delivered.

Asiana recently added 6 more Y seats to its 294 seater. Not sure what has happened to seat pitch now that there are 18 rows instead of 17 between L2 and L3. Rumor has it that 295 seater will also get additional 6 Y seats.
