Need Asiana card stock BP

What is with Asiana's obsession that BPs must be on Asiana card stock? Just had a recent flight with a TK codeshare. Upon disembarking, my name was written on the board to contact the transit counter. Went to the Asiana transfer desk and English skills were very poor. They cannot help and asked me to go to the departure transit desk. Since the layover was long and I planned to pass immigration control, I went to the arrivals transit counter. Agent said no message and do not know anything why my name is on the board. So I left airport. When I went back to departure gate after few hours, someone was there with my name again. Only thing they wanted me to do is change boarding pass from a Turkish Airlines card stock to an Asiana card stock. Someone there also at the gate exchanging home printed BP to Asiana card stock. Why do they need to go to such lengths to have them on their own card stock? Wasted almost an hour of my time due to this!

I don't think they're the only ones. Lufthansa did that to me when my first flight was on United. They took my United bp at the gate and exchanged it for an lh one.

NZ does it too. In their case it is to check passport/visa information for eligibility to fly to the next destination - they don't trust the airline that checked you in (and fair enough given they are the ones to pay for a denied entry/return to origin).

I recently boarded successfully with LH B/P. I just ignored all signs, went to the Lounge (LH B/Pass accepted without any issues) and then went to the gate where my passport was verified and I boarded with LH B/Pass (gate agent only handwritten 'DOCS OK' on my LH B/P).

SQ did it too. I arrived in AMS with those flimsy paper boarding passes that you get at some self check-in machines.

AA gave me new tickets too. It was however justified as the "old" BPs didn't show "TSA Pre"

Does anyone know if it is possible to pick up new OZ BPs airside at FRA? I`m connecting to OZ from LH and ticket specifies that new BPs have to be collected...

IIRC only at the gate. If you are eligible to use lounge you can access it with your FF card and itinerary/e-ticket number (both OZ and LH use the same Altea system - they can access each others e-tickets, if needed).

Thank you^ We are connecting from LH biz to OZ First, so I guess one of the Senator Lounges is where we`ll collect new BPs then.

My experience from late April 2017 is you can only get OZ boarding passes at the gate (or landside check in) in FRA.

Same to UA, NZ, LH, OZ....they want to check your documents because they wont blindly trust the previous airline. They cant blame the previous airline if a mistake happens at the destination!

Many carriers do this as a means of double-checking documents and because they may have gate readers which are proprietary.

In 2017, this ought not to be necessary as there should be common scanning software, at least across alliances, and because there ought to be sufficient fields for each successive carrier to note a document check.

But, this process is easy & cheap.

I actually had the opposite problem with SQ recently where they refused to print me an SQ cardstock BP and wanted me to use the one given to me by TG for my connection flight with SQ.

Also might be an accounting issue. They always scan and save the big part with the bar code and just give you back the small part with your seat assignment.
